Feb Update

Posted by on Feb 25, 2016

In case you are wondering where the next update is at, I’d like to let everyone know that it’s not quite finished yet and I thank you all for being patient! The next update, 0.8.4¬†will introduce a new Boss Battle. Not just any battle, but the final battle – Vandheer round 2! 0.8.4 will also fix a whole bunch of bugs that have been reported too. The final battle with Vandheer is looking epic! I really want to craft an incredibly fun and challenging encounter, which should be repayable and memorable. I’ll do my very best to get the update out this weekend. Blew are some screenshots of the chaos in...

Rearmed New Year Recap

Posted by on Jan 26, 2016

Armed with Wings Rearmed launched into Early Access in May 2015. The game has since been radically improved, revamped and further polished! A massive high five to all the Early Access adopters who have contributed to Rearmed with invaluable feedback and player testing. I hope that I’ve provided you guys with an enjoyable experience – it’s only getting better from here! There are more major updates to come, Im working my hardest to have the game ready in Q1 2016. 2015 marked the return of Armed with Wings. Rearmed (the first AwW title to be released since 2011) launched into Early Access, was picked to Showcase at PAX Aus 2015 and has even been covered by 2 printed magazines, IndieGameMag and PCPowerPlay! Since Early Access Launch I’ve delivered 12 content updates. Let’s take a look at how much as changed in Armed with Wings Rearmed. Rearmed’s combat system has been drastically expanded with new moves, more power attacks and a complex dodging system. Enemies have also been upgraded with more complexity and attack patterns. The idea is to make the player feel like a complete anime-style, samurai bad ass. Play testing at PAX Aus certainly indicates that the new Combat is on point! The old boring Combat System… Super fast and fluid new Combat System! Earlier in Jan 2016 I introduced a new playable character – the main antagonist, Vandheer. Perhaps this is the most exciting feature added to Rearmed. Vandheer is aggressive, fast and fluid, yet difficult to master. His moveset is influenced by his previous skills in other AwW titles, yet distinctively new and very much Rearmed. Vandheer stomping units in 2016! The original Armed with Wings has 12 levels. Rearmed launched with 25 levels. Rearmed now currently has 30 levels. 5 extra levels may not seem like a huge increase – but half of the existing levels have been greatly expanded with new areas and multiple starting and exit points. Slide down some new slopes! More features New enemies have been introduced to address the repetitiveness of combat, and encouraging players to change strategy based on the enemy behavior. Razor is familiar to the regular Soldiers, but more cautious and quicker. The Skull Flame enemy is a replacement for the Bomber. I did have plans to improve the Bomber, but thought it would be better to get some more monster creatures in the game. Finally, A...

[UPDATE – 0.7.10] Better 2nd Boss!

Posted by on Nov 23, 2015

[UPDATE – 0.7.10] Better 2nd Boss!

New update is live on Steam build 0.7.10! This is the first update since showcasing Rearmed at PAX Australia earlier this month – thank you to everyone being so patient. Here’s the change list: Features & Updates 2nd Boss update Level 17 expanded Tutorial level updated Pulleys added Fixes & balancing Major memory leak plugged Survival crashing Hitting rocks Various bugs The latest update brings more stability to the experience. I plugged a memory leak that caused the game to become more laggy the longer you keep playing. I’ve also weeded out some annoying bugs and crashes that were present especially in Survival Mode. A number of levels have also been adjusted and expanded based on the feedback from PAX. The tutorial level is slightly different towards the end, and level 17 has now been completely transformed. The 2nd Boss was introduced quite recently, but until now it’s been a boring encounter. This update vastly improved the fight by adding more attacks and attack patterns which will cause players to adjust their strategy. It’s far more engaging and I look forward to getting some feedback! Stay tuned by joining the Armed with Wings Facebook page. I’d love to hear your feedback on this update! Please comment below or participate in the discussion at the Sun-Studios Forums.[www.sun-studios.net] For now that is all the news. Next update will go up in 2 weeks on the 6th of...

Rearmed @ PAX 2015!

Rearmed @ PAX 2015!

Firstly – Blockpocalypse was a complete BLAST at PAX Australia this year! Blockpocalypse is currently in Steam Greenlight and needs your vote! So please check out Blockpocalpyse and voteYES on Greenlight! Vote ‘YES’ for Blockpocalypse! Now, onto PAX Australia 2015! Armed with Wings Rearmed was picked for the PAX Aus Indie Showcase! The weekend has come and gone, and it was a COMPLETE SUCCESS and an absolute blast! Thank you to everybody who was able to attend (all you Aussie folk). An ocean of PAX Aus attendees The Melbourne Exhibiton Centre was packed during the weekend and the Armed with Wings booth was VERY popular. Never a dull moment as myself, Steve, Shaun and Alex were completely swamped in a sea of gamers, cosplayers, journalists and press members! We even had people from Microsoft, Sony, Autodesk and IGN swing by. Interviewers were queuing up, after I finished with one, the next was waiting. I was also completely taken by surprise by the sheer amount of people who had played Armed with Wings previously. There was a guy who had played AwW when he was 10 years old, now as an adult 2015 he’s studying games design. The Armed with Wings booth was 3×3 meters which is actually quite big. PAX supplied me with a 55″ TV, a bar table and two stools. I brought with me the following: 2 tables, 2 milk crates, 2 computer moniters, 3 Alienware computers (2 of my own laptops, and a friends Area 51), 3 power boards and extension leads, 3 PC speaker+subs, 3 Xbox 360 controllers, tons of stationary and black table cloths. The booth looks like: This is the Armed with Wings Booth We run a competition during the Saturday and Sunday, top 5 survival scores win a Steam key. We even gave away a $30 JB discount card on the Saturday. This turned out to be super successful in bringing players back every couple of hours, and a great way to build relationships with these players – Never doubt the spirit of competition during a trade show! There was a specific gear load-out locked down for PAX – The weapon used was the ‘Abbott’ and the equip gear was ‘Extended Combo’ and ‘Speed Charge’. On Sunday, the highest score was 5000+ on wave 9. I struggled to reach that myself! Our Saturday winner! Here’s a roundup of all the interviews and...
